My Book Reviews

Recent Reader Recommendations

By 11 Comments

I’ve decided to post some of my reader recommendations. Considering I get so many of these each week (Thank you!! Keep ’em coming please), I figured I’d share a few of the ones that have been mentioned over and over again, and some that I’m hoping to get to soon.

Since I had so much luck with recent reader suggestions (“Fifty Shades” and the “Thoughtless” books anyone? 😉 hehe!),  it would be a shame not to highlight a few of them as I get them.

Unfortunately, I can’t always get to them as fast as I’d like, but maybe you guys can, and you can “second” the recommendations? read more

Book Review – Rock Star’s Girl by J. F. Kristin

Rock Star’s Girl (A Hollywood Dating Story Book 1)
Another amazing deal!!! A bargain priced e-book find that literally rocked my world. Okay, granted. Not “rocked my world” as in what’s on my latest “favorites” list, but it rocked me nonetheless. Definitely worth the read. Fun, tumultuous and shocking (oh yes! There’s even an “it’s not you, it’s me” moment… or two). I was aghast!! Offended!! Flabbergasted. Heartbroken… and as a reader… excited to be all of those things! read more

Book Review – Sexiest Vampire Alive by Kerrelyn Sparks

Sexiest Vampire Alive (Love at Stake)
Cute, cute, cute!!! Loved it, but in a sweet, going-back-to-my-old-school-reading sort of way. Nice and familiar and cuddly. All of the love at first site attraction, the corny come-ons, the intense seduction, and the “I can’t love him cause he’s a vampire” stuff. But sometimes that kind of fluffy reading really refreshes a person. You know, the whole “too much of one thing” and all that. Makes one jaded. I found myself eye rolling more than sighing after too many paranormal romance “candies” in a row. But in spurts, it was just what I needed. After all of my recent (and delicious) dark reads, I needed something that didn’t freak me out too bad. Might even make my next dark drama even more agonizing. Like cleansing the palette 😉 read more

Book Review – Please Don’t Stop the Music by Jane Lovering

Please Don’t Stop the Music
Thank you Jennifer for this AWESOME recommendation! Another WOW book for me! I simply… LOVED it. I totally lucked out. How can that be? How can something this interesting, well rounded, heartfelt and heart wrenching be bargain priced?

I “pre-reviewed” it on on my Facebook page (I couldn’t help it!), and it looks like I’m not alone in my enthusiasm for it:

Maryse’s Book Blog: I’m reading a really good book right now. It’s witty and fast, and just good writing, but it took me a bit to catch the writing style (it takes place in England). Kind of reminds me (writing-wise) of Flat-Out Love & How to Kill a Rock Star. This too, has an angsty ex-rock star (and boy did the “reveal” surprise me!!) Very worthy of angst. LOVE this character. Overall well-rounded, excellent read. Not off the charts in romance (although there IS that), but just plain good anyway. read more

Book Review – Club Shadowlands by Cherise Sinclair

Club Shadowlands (Masters of the Shadowlands Book 1)
Thank you Ivie, Yvette and Lauren for THIS recommendation. WOW!! This one was a dark spark in my otherwise “vanilla” two week long book-fest since “Grey“. I’ve been looking for more intensity, and while this one wasn’t absolutely perfect (like some of our recent favorites), it sure sucked me in and held me captive. Literally. Okay, so not “literally” (considering the genre “captive” takes on a whole new meaning) but you get the picture 😉 Tee hee!! read more
