Book Review – Night Shifts Black by Alyson Santos

Night Shifts Black
Intriguing title, mysterious cover, a fantastic premise and RAVING reviews had me *squirrel* my TBR list (and in fact, 2 books I was reading at that time) to jump right in to this one, on it’s surprise release day (well… a surprise to me anyway). This is the author’s debut and I had no idea it even existed until my reading buddy Kandace, and a few others found it for us!

Kim: I read Night Shifts Black the day it released! It’s MUST reads. A straight forward look in to depression without kid gloves and a HELLUVA read. I stumbled on it before any reviews not really knowing anything other than a former musician was in it ~ that was my initial draw. Boy oh boy, I kept thinking about this hidden gem that way more people need to read!!! read more

Forever, Jack (Eversea #2): A Butler Cove Novel

NOTE: For those that haven’t read book #1 yet, this book is the continuation (and conclusion) to this wonderful famous actor/normal girl love story, so don’t spoil it by reading below. Instead, take a look at my review for book #1 ➜ Eversea by Natasha Boyd.

After the ending of book #1, I couldn’t wait for the conclusion of this love “duet” series. And lucky me!! I didn’t have to, ’cause this series (including a Christmas novella) is complete. I jumped right into this one to see where it was going. Heartbreak was front and center and giving me chest pains. Imagine the dream of meeting a Hollywood heartthrob, become his friend, getting attached to him and falling head-over-heels FAST in love (who wouldn’t?) only to have that blissful bubble burst when his real life comes calling with all sorts of scandalous threats. read more

Book Review – Eversea by Natasha Boyd

Eversea (Eversea #1): A Butler Cove Novel
I backtracked to one of my old TBR lists and finally read this one!! YAY ME!!

It came HIGHLY recommended a few years ago,

Ana: Eversea is lovely, not much steam but just enough and I love the Actor/Famous Rockstars with “normal girl” romances!!

Leene: I really enjoyed Eversea and the sequel. Sweet story, likable characters and the author writes very well!

Michelle: yes I loved Eversea…checked my rating and I gave it 4 stars. The ending is CHish so you kinda need to get the second book to figure out where the story goes. read more

Book Review – Love, Chloe by Alessandra Torre

Love, Chloe: a standalone novel
Love, Chloe features Alessandra Torre’s signature, exhilarating writing style, incorporating realistic dialogue, relatable internal monologue and very human needs (and mistakes)! With characters that are easy to visualize, they come to life in every one of her books that I’ve devoured (yes… devoured!) and read as if watching a movie (or a favorite TV series) and this one was no exception!

That said, this classic contemporary romance release IS somewhat different for this author, as it doesn’t sucker-punch us with a crazy twist, or an intricate plot (or some crazy secret that’s been building with every chapter and mini-reveal). It’s straightforward, easy, and breezy, but still delights us with angst, bad decisions, necessary secrets, and something slightly out of reach (and yet still thrilling) to the majority of us. read more

Book Review – Slip of the Tongue by Jessica Hawkins

Slip of the Tongue
This book was pretty much everything we love to hate in “forbidden romance” books that involve marital strife and temptation. It was all-at-once disheartening, relieving, passionate and steamy, infuriating and cringeworthy. I was all over the place with these characters, and they were all over the place, with each other.

Amber: Loved this so good!

Kandace: I really want to read Slip of the Tongue. I hope I remember to buy it when it comes out, I saw its on KU too. I’m in the mood for a high angst read. read more
