True Blood News of the day 05-23-2009

It’s coming soon! Season 2 of True Blood, to entertain and titillate us with more hunky vampires. In the meantime, perhaps these articles can help you through the wait 🙂

  • Hilarious picture of the an ad for True Blood season two and details about the viral campaign as found on ARGNet (very clever!)
  • More fake ads for Vampires (to help promote the upcoming season of True Blood) as found on Creativity.
  • Quick interview with Anna Paquin about her role as “Sookie” found on BuddyTV
  • The NY Times presents an EXCELLENT article/interview with Charlaine Harris (author of the hugely successful book series, The Southern Vampire Mysteries that True Blood is based on). The article discusses her status as No.1  on the NY Times Best Seller list for her book “Dead and Gone” (which was highly anticipated – by ME! haha), how much she sold her first book in the series for, and how much more her new contract is worth. We get a glimpse into her personal life and writing styles, and learn that due to her successes, she is finally able to rest and enjoy her life more. Yay Charlaine!! A happy author is a creative author!
  • The Cinema Post has a gallery of latest Character Art Posters (quite nice).
  • The Trades has an interview with William Sanderson (who plays Sheriff Bud Dearborne). He discusses his character, his opinions one what others think of “Southerners”, and all of the different places they film, to create the show (Fangtasia is actually filmed in L.A. and Longbeach) – hrmph – who knew?
  • Another great interview with William Sanderson on IGN.com (lots of comments about the show and characters/actors)
  • Recent miscellaneous photos of the cast members of True Blood (at NY Post)
  • Buddy TV has an EXCELLENT “behind the scenes” clip including quick interviews with the cast and scenes from the upcoming season. Can I just say…OH YES to Eric (tee-hee!). I miss the hair, but the sex appeal is still ALL there. How will I be able to stand only one weekly dose…

    Vampire related news of the day 05-23-09

    You’d be surprised at how much is out there that is related to the vampire subject, from new books and shows coming out, to superstitions debunked! Here are some links that I have found interesting today:

  • A Peruvian tale of haunting by the executed “Bride of Dracula” has been revealed as a humble Lancashire weaver (Sarah Ellen Roberts). Read about the tale and the actual historical facts here (very interesting article found on MailOnline). One eerie fact is that her grave remained undisturbed, while most others were destroyed, during the Pisco earthquake in 2007…(cue Twilight Zone music here…)
  • A great interview with “Doug Hutchison” in regards to his web series entitled “Vampire Killers”as found on dreadcentral.com. The series is about the city of LA being overrun by sexy female Vampires, and there are only a small number of Vampire killers to handle the situation. (you can watch the series online on https://www.vampirekillers.tv/, but beware, from what I’ve seen so far, this is most definitely geared towards adults).
  • An article referencing the reviews of Park Chan-wook’s new movie “Thirst” (recently screened at the Cannes Film Festival)
  • Another interesting article from the Associated Press about the movie “Thirst” (and comments from director)
  • As reported on by the Associated Press, there will be a new vampire movie called “The Moth Diaries” and will star Lily Cole.
  • io9.com reports that a remake of the 80’s hit “Fright Night” may be in the works.
  • A quick reference on boxwish.com about how to get your tickets to watch the cast of Twilight play Vampire Baseball for the Make-a-Wish Foundation of Oregon on July 4th. What a fun trip that would be!
  • New trailer and poster featured on ropeofsilicon.com of the movie “Blood: The Last Vampire”
  • A cool vampire/werewolf slaying “kit” being auctioned off (is it authentic or just a replica)? Looks awesome either way! Read about it here and here

    Vampire Diaries news of the day 05-23-09

    Thanks to some of my favorite Twitterers (tvdnews and Vampire Diaries TV), I have been getting a plethora of great info on the upcoming show (that, and the new promo that keeps playing on CW)! So here are some details I have been able to compile:

  • The pilot was a success and it HAS been picked up and will air on the CW Network this fall.
  • It will take Smallville’s place on Thursday’s at 8pm before Supernatural (Smallville is being switched to Fridays)
  • They will be keeping the name “Salvatore” (as per the book) instead of what was originally planned “Whitmore” (much appreciated, as there is an AWESOME line from Damon, referencing his last name, that I hope they use in the show)
  • Here are the two trailers for the show as found on examiner.com
  • Lots of opposing views on the cast of characters (as they do not *look* like what we have come to expect from the descriptions of the book characters). In my opinion, the only one that has any semblance to the book character is Ian playing Damon.

    Book Review – Forbidden Nights with a Vampire by Kerrelyn Sparks

    Forbidden Nights with a Vampire (Love at Stake, Book 7)
    This book was a pleasant trip back to the world of Roman Draganesti’s entourage. The Malcontents are still up to their baneful ways, kidnapping, plotting, and bombing, while Roman’s Coven continues to grow, as shifters and good Vamps from all over assemble, to fight for his cause.

    This novel focuses on Phil, an alpha werewolf, and his attraction, to a spunky, ill-tempered vamp, Vanda. While in past books, the romantic twist always involved a couple that met for the first time, and eventually fell in love, this one took a different turn, allowing us to accompany a duo that were already “friends”, (who’ve made appearances in past books). read more

    Book Review – Demon Can’t Help It by Kathy Love

    Demon Can’t Help It
    Well….It’s time to say goodbye to one of the most enjoyable reading experiences I have had. I can console myself with the knowledge that I can read these again, but there is nothing like the “first time” experience when reading a series that is this fulfilling, and this trilogy is full of delicious angst!

    The third installation was the guiltiest of all guilty pleasures! The intimate moments so enticingly detailed, I lost myself completely to it. The scenes are thick with emotion, passion & seduction. read more
