Book Review – Hate To Love You by Elise Alden

Here’s another book that gave me a recent blurb-jolt, and of course, a boat load of guilt for being excited at that turmoil it promised. lol

The truth?

I slept with my sister’s fiancé. Hot and sweaty, all night long in a room so dark he couldn’t tell I wasn’t her.

The lie?

Said fiancé is the father of my child.

GAH!!! WHAT!????

And then I received some awesome recommendations that just cinched it for me!

Book Review – The Year We Fell Down by Sarina Bowen

The Year We Fell Down (The Ivy Years)
<— Fantastic little piece of sweetness, this one! The synopsis gave me a “blurb jolt” last month, ’cause it had that obvious (and understandable) pining/unrequited-love factor that I crave so much, and I’m so happy my trusty reading -bud, Jean, told me to get on it! It was exactly as I imagined it to be.

Jean: Maryse, I started The Year We Fell Down last night because I was looking for something different. Well, I am loving it! Slow build up, great characters, and I don’t think I’ve ever read a book about a girl in a wheelchair. What a great book! Highly recommend it! read more

Book Review – Stolen Course by Aly Martinez

Stolen Course (Wrecked and Ruined)
Great second installment that answered a ton of questions, and opened up the possibility of more romance amongst the cast and crew (future books? I hope so!!). Just one book in, and felt like I knew the characters. As if they were my own friends. I was invested in ’em! (Check out my review of book #1)

And this book (#2) allowed me to continue getting to know ’em, through another main character’s life, while the “background story” continued expanding. The accident that emotionally destroyed three best friends (police officers), and the three best friends that they were dating. A moment from their past that blew them apart, yet bonded them together forever. And a potential beautiful future that was within their reach. If only they’d allow themselves to have it again. But sometimes, when life-changing questions don’t have answers, doubt and suspicion rears its ugly head and it’s hard to let go of convictions. read more

Book Review – Changing Course by Aly Martinez

Changing Course (Wrecked and Ruined)
I just LOVED IT! I knew I would. I knew it. I loved it so much that I even told my husband all about it today as we were driving home (I was at 75%, and it was all I could think about), and he thought it sounded incredible, too! He agreed… this guy? Total hero. The minute we walked through the door, he handed me my iPad and said:

“Get to your book! I wanna know how it ends.”

Yep. This was right up my alley, and totally right up his, and you know I love a book when I go into detail, recounting it to my husband. I don’t do that for all of them, ’cause I know his attention span is a bit er…. eye-roll-ey. *giggle* He can only tolerate so many of my… “and then… this happened! And then… that happened!!” before he tunes me out completely. But I knew he’d enjoy my retelling of this one. read more

Book Review – Carnage by Lesley Jones

*whoooo* I’m absolutely drained. Emotionally, but it almost seems… physical. I feel like I’ve been put through the wringer, and I can’t even tell you how I feel coming out of it. Well… no I know exactly how I feel, I just can’t tell you, so you don’t go in with pre-conceived notions. neutral This is another book that is best not knowing anything, to get the full impact. And boy does it hit hard.
