Connected (Twists of Fate Book 1)
Another rock star book! Loved this!! Woooo hoooo!! I was made aware of it by both Jessica and Jane when I was searching for another bad boy book:
Jessica: Jolyn Palliata’s Connected (Twist of Fate Series) Dead rock star’s soul stuck in your body and mind, yes please!
Maryse’s Book Blog: OHHHHHH Jessica!! You said the magic word! Rock Star. HOT!!!
Jane: Something lighter, funnier, shorter. Something Rock Star-y perhaps? I have just the thing 🙂 … It’s a novella, so it’s a quick – but hot – read. You should read it. Seriously 🙂
Thank YOU girls!!! It was GREAT! While I would have loved a little more “rock star” action, this one had enough of everything else to keep me plenty happy. So far, my favorite “short story” of the year. Short, sweet and just a touch of “fluffy” but had a surprising amount of intensity and emotion for such a quick read, to give it a slightly serious edge too.
The perfect story for in-between reads, or when you need something that won’t completely consume you, but still explores certain *issues* to make you feel all sorts of emotion. And I mean allll sorts, ’cause while there is plenty of sarcastic humor, and a friendship in bloom, this book IS on the steamy side. The author even managed to make it steamy when the “hero” was nowhere to be seen. Quite an impressive feat!
Oh. And I cried. No sobbing, but the tears were too many to simply dab them away and blame them on “eye strain”. LOL! I won’t tell you what made me cry though. Happy or sad tears… that’s up to you to find out.
When I first started it, I wondered if I’d be able to get into it. The first chapter (or was it the “prologue”) had a weird “feeling” and the wording… all very dream-like. Hard to get a grasp of. But I realized this was simply because we were in another “state” (another dimension), and as soon as the actual story started, I was right there with them. Everything was normal. Well, normal until the heroine (Addison) realizes, after coming out of an operation, that she is hearing voices. Actually, one male voice (Rhys).
That voice didn’t come from somewhere in the room. It was definitely in her head.
Panic seized every cell in her body. “I’m going insane. They broke my brain. I have brain damage. Holy crap. They’ll have to commit me.”
She soon realizes that she died on the operating table, and wherever she “went” he was there too. When the doctors restarted her heart, and she came back to her own body, he piggybacked down with her. Into her body!!
Yeeaah. Sorry about that, Addison. What can I say? Staying there alone freaked me the f*&% out so I grabbed onto you. Next thing I know, here I am. And there you are. Here we are.
“I’m not dreaming.”
I think we covered that already.
And now he’s an OBNOXIOUS part of her. A hugely famous, drop-dead sexy and newly dead rock star, has come back to figure out just why he’s back in this way, and he is using her body to do it.
“What exactly are we hoping to find?”
I want to find out what’s all happened. I’m thinking that if I can see everyone’s cool, I can move on, or whatever it is I’m supposed to be doing. Other than possessing you, that is.
“So… closure.”
Yeah. Closure.
What a wild ride it is, sharing two minds, trying to live her own life, and constantly getting feedback from the peanut gallery. How she dresses, who she dates…
I feel like I’m kissing him… and enjoying it! That’s wrong on so many different levels that I don’t even know where to f*&%ing begin!
… her own aches and pains. Her worries. He’s aware of it all. An unavoidable emotional connection is made, and well… now what?
The author worked some magic here, and I know this is a book I will never forget! Can’t wait for more in the series, and I believe it will be a long run from what she seems to have planned! There can never be too many rock star books, if you ask me. 😉
4 stars! Short but, like I said… there was plenty of everything to be an absolutely fulfilling read. Would I have liked it to be longer? YES! It was so good and so fun and affecting that I didn’t want it to end. But the author did a great job in the 159 pages that kicked off the series.
Here’s the old cover! Loved it!
