Roam (Roam Series, Book One
A great start to what I anticipate will be a tumultuous series loaded in angst, action and personal agony. My kind of read! And it was so good, with two twists that I didn’t even see coming. One had me gasping halfway through the story thinking… NO. WAY!! Totally clever!
Very cool, indeed. And that’s what I love about paranormals. The surprise reveals that are so hard to accept at first but then make so much sense as the story progresses. This is one of those.
A Winter Dream: A Novel
Okay so here’s one that is NOT our usual read (or mine either, for that matter) but ended up being so good!
It has a totally real feel, and does “read” like one of our usual books (in first person POV, and a fascinating “voice” at that). In fact, it felt so personal that at first I thought it was someone’s autobiography detailing their personal struggles and eventual growth.
And since it was recommended by a friend that was greatly touched by it…
So, it’s true that I’m not much on re-reading a book. I know many of my fellow readers LOVE re-reads (and often prepare for a new release in a series by re-reading the previous books) but… I’m usually good with one read through. After all, by now, I already know what happens, right? It couldn’t have *that* same effect on me twice, could it?
But there are SOME that I have re-read. A precious few, and sure enough, surprise of all surprises, the feeling was still there. That intensity. The stomach drops, and the heart clenches. And yes, I knew what was going to happen, so the exciting guess work was gone, but the butterflies over some of those scenes (and for the book as a whole) were still as strong. And SO worth the re-read.
Alarm
I just finished it yesterday, and yesss I knowwwwww, it’s still on pre-order but will be releasing in just 2 days, so not much longer to wait, my friends! It’s a a fun, exciting, sexy, easy “bad boy” read with a bit of mystery and intrigue to boot. Appearances can be deceiving (or telling) and this “good girl” has her suspicions of her new “bad boy” friend.
So what’s it about?
Chloe (straight-laced and happy that way) gets a little tipsy one night out at a bar with friends. She finds herself very attracted to someone (Aiden) that she’d normally consider NOT her type (scary looking), but there’s just something about him that calls to her, and they just keep bumping into each other as the night wears on.
Starting Fires
I’m done!! Remember this one? LOL! 😛 How could you forget, since I first brought it up yesterday. It caught my eye a couple of days ago when the author dropped me a note to tell me it was a new release. No reviews, brand new author, no reader recommendations (yet), but there was just something about that blurb that had my attention, and so I chose it as my next.
Over 450 pages, and I just finished it today (fairly quickly considering the length) and it was well worth moving it to the top of my TBR list. I loved the writing style (it had me connecting from the start), and it focused on all that fun romance-angst and push-pull that I love so much.
